It’s Christmas time again, and my wife came up with the idea of making Gingerbread Houses and a Gingerbread RocketHouse. I think it is not only traditional in Hungary in Christmas time, but in other countries too.
Did you know? Gingerbread houses have really long history. I’ve been doing a little research and found that gingerbread ornaments for Christmas are around at least from the Victorian era.
Remember the tale of Hansel and Gretel (actually in Hungary, it is Jancsi & Juliska). So there is the gingerbread house in that tale. Some people think that the history of gingerbread houses coming from these tales, but they come much earlier then that.
Well, tell you, it was a challenging day, when we were putting together these houses. Making the dough, then rolling, cutting, baking, sugar coating etc.
Okay, I have to admit, I only took part in the “housebuilding” part. It was fun and had to make it more fun, so…
I decided, that it’s just too much of the candy stuff, so I spiced up a bit this Rockethouse. The hot rod cars arrived home safely from the heavy sugar snowfall too. Now, this is real harmony. :)
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU!
